Founded in April 1982 by a group led by Norma Cannon.

Meeting Information:

Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 A.M. at the All Saints Episcopal Church Handicapped Accissible Icon, 525 Lake Concord Road, Concord, NC. The meeting place is handicap accessible. Programs include projects of interest to current members. Group Correspondence Courses offered by EGA National and Carolinas' Region are available to all members. Workshops are offered as desired by members when schedules allow. An annual holiday luncheon and optional ornament exchange is held in December.

The group explores a wide variety embroidery techniques including cross stitch, hemstitching, beading with a variety of stitches, pulled thread embroidery, counted canvas work (needlepoint done with a variety of stitches), silk and metal threadwork, hardanger embroidery, crazy quilting, and mixed media work. Programs have also covered color and design for embroidery.

There are opportunities to travel as a group to needlework exhibits of interest to group members.


Chapter dues are $15. Members must also join EGA National and The Carolinas' Region.


Guests are always welcome and are asked to join after attending two meetings.

Special Interest Groups:

A Stitch-in meets every Wednesday from 1-4 pm at the Mooresville Citizen Center, 4305 E. State Road 144, Mooresville, NC. Phone 704-663-2934.


We have an ongoing project of collecting needlework kits to send to the Wounded Warrior Project. Other outreach projects are available as requested by group members.

Directions: Golden Needles meets at All Saints Episcopal Church, 525 Lake Concord Road Northeast, Concord, NC 28025-2925. The phone number of the church is (704) 782-2024. It is very near Carolina Mall.

From I-85, take exit 58 Kannapolis/Concord onto S. Cannon Blvd (US 29 North/NC 601) toward Monroe/Concord. Stay in the left lane and go past Chick Fil A. At the next light, get into the left turn lane. You’ll see Starbucks. Turn left on Country Club Dr NE. Go past the Starbucks and the back of Carolinas Mall, down a big hill, and up a big hill. The road dead ends into Lake Concord Rd NE (NC-3). Turn right on Lake Concord Rd NE, then yield to traffic. Take the first right into the church’s small driveway. Park in visitor parking and enter on foot through the parish hall at the leftmost end of the building. Go straight across the parish hall and enter through the large Fellowship Hall double doors. There is usually a receptionist in the parish hall to unlock the door and direct you.
