Welcome to the Education page
Carolinas Region (CAR) offers programs and classes at the region level and supports the many educational opportunities that are offered by EGA National.
EGA offers the following to provide members with inexpensive opportunities to enhance their technical embroidery skills:
- Free projects and Petite projects
- Group Correspondence Courses (GCCs) which can be taken as an individual during Lightning Rounds
- Individual correspondence Courses (ICCs)
- Master Craftsman program
- Online courses
- Helpful guidebooks or instructional materials, including a glossary of embroidery terms
- EGA Lending Library
- Stitch-alongs (via Facebook)
More information about these opportunities is on the EGA National website.
Zoom: Carolinas Region now provides opportunities to learn and stay connected by offering 2 virtual stitch-ins a month via Zoom. Check out the CAR Zoom Events Calendar in the Quick Links menu for dates and times.
CAR Events: Carolinas Region regularly sponsors two retreats a year. These events include educational opportunities and a Region Meeting.
- Retreats: Retreats are held in the spring and the fall and usually include a choice of a one-day class or studio time plus an evening lecture. Sometimes, Make-it/Take-it projects are offered that you can finish at the Retreat or that can be taught at your chapter as a monthly program. Each retreat offers different activities, but all events offer wonderful opportunities to make friends with other stitchers who share your interests. The retreats usually end with the Region’s semi-annual business meeting.
In addition, Carolinas Region publishes a quarterly newsletter, RegioNews, for its members (published elsewhere on this website).
All members of the Carolinas Region chapters are invited to participate in all Region functions.
