Roxie Hodgkin Scholarship
The scholarship was established in 2004 in memory of Roxie Hodgkin. Roxie served in the Region and chapter in many capacities and held the position of Region treasurer at the time of her death. We know Roxie would want to promote education since she loved to take classes. A close friend of many long-time EGA members, Roxie was an active and able member of EGA, an excellent stitcher, and a friendly, helpful, and cheerful individual. She is sorely missed.
Who is eligible: All members of the Region are eligible to enter the drawing and must be members as of the dates of the drawing and award presentation.
What: The scholarship covers the registration fee and kit cost for a class at the Carolinas Region seminar held during the year of the drawing. Recipients are guaranteed their choice of class.
When: The drawing is held one month before seminar registration closes to allow the recipient time to make plans to attend. The recipient will be chosen through an annual drawing from the pool of members who chose to enter their names for the drawing.
How to enter: Eligible members may enter the drawing by one of the following methods:
1. Checking the applicable line on the seminar registration form. It is not necessary to register in the seminar in order to enter the drawing but the winner must register for and attend the seminar in order to claim the award.
2. Sending a letter to the seminar registrar asking to be entered in the drawing. The letter must also include address, telephone number, and chapter affiliation.
The Region director or seminar director will inform the recipient by telephone. A public announcement to Region members will be made after the recipient confirms acceptance.
